About Me
I’m passionate organisational researcher in the area of strategic management, particularly in relation to managing the risks of human rights violations and ensuring access to remedies for those affected by the negative impacts of organizations.
I specialize in qualitative research, a process-oriented approach aimed at understanding and explaining phenomena, their causes, and results for the organization and its environment. I apply a humanistic approach to management, which means I focus on the functioning of the organization from the perspective of the individual and their activities, as well as the impact of these activities on other people and the environment. I use this approach both in scientific research and in research conducted in collaboration with the socio-economic environment. To ensure high-quality research, I develop methodology based on scientific rigor, including ethical principles applied in social sciences, as well as compliance with the rules of providing safe space for interactions with most vulnerable groups and individuals. I obtained a PhD in the discipline of management and quality sciences, and I am currently continuing my scientific development at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
I have conducted research monitoring the respect for human rights in Polish subsidiaries, diagnostic research to determine compliance with human rights for foreign investments, analyses for mapping human rights risks, and research on stakeholder participation in the implementation of ESG strategies, including reducing the risks of human rights violations and creating socio-economic value. Additionally, in the context of transnational and cross-sectoral cooperation on national and EU level, I have conducted research in the course of policy making processes especially in the area of employment, sustainable development, including human rights, social dialog. I have also carried out numerous training, educational activities, and actions for the development of social and civic dialogue.
I am a member of the EU Taxonomy Working Group at the Polish Ministry of Development and Technology and the chair of the Minimum Safeguards of the EU Taxonomy Team. I collaborate with civil organizations, business associations, certification organizations, consulting firms, public administration, government agencies, trade unions, and other entities that strive to respect human rights and promote the idea of respecting human rights in the economy.
Research
I conduct research in collaboration with business, governmental, and civil organisations. These studies can serve various goals: determining the current state of an organization in terms of implementing ESG strategies, assessing the human rights due diligence processes, conducting evaluation studies to verify whether the applied solutions or management tools have achieved the desired and expected outcomes. Considering that respect for human rights is not limited to business, I also conduct research on organisations operating in other sectors. Below are some types of research I most frequently undertake:
Organizational Research in the Area of Human Rights Management
Badania organizacyjne, które prowadzę dotyczą:
The organizational research I conduct includes:
- Diagnosis/evaluation of the due diligence process in the area of human rights;
- Preparation, implementation, and revision of human rights policies, including trade union, consumer, and user rights;
- Identification of existing and potential negative impacts on human rights in the framework of human rights due diligence;
- Mapping processes of external/internal stakeholders (including suppliers) and shaping relations with them;
- Designing/implementing grievance mechanisms providing access to remedies, as well as investigating root causes for reported irregularities and other reported issues within the organization;
- Investigative research in cases of human rights violations within existing grievance mechanisms;
- Selected areas of the organisational human rights human rights due diligence process and applied risk management tools in the value chain.
I conduct typical desk research study based on existing data, such as the analysis of policies, procedures, organizational documents, as well as data obtained in the course of organisational research conducted with other data collection technics.
Organizational analyses prepared in the course of this kind of research can be diagnostic, revisionary, or evaluative, for example, in the case of examining the effectiveness of implemented measures and solutions. Such studies are mostly conducted for business organisations.
Monitoring Respect for Human Rights
I conduct this type of research usually in collaboration with civil society organizations. These studies are aimed at identifying potential irregularities, striving to prevent and reduce the negative impacts on human rights, reviewing the effectiveness of grievance mechanisms, ensuring access to remedies and compensation for affected individuals, as well as developing a corrective action plan and adjusting organizational behaviour.
Evaluation of the Organization as a Participant in the Value Chain
I conduct this type of research on behalf of an entity with which the evaluated organization is to partner in a given investment or maintain a business relationship. It concerns process aspects related to managing human rights protection systems and aims to ensure whether and to what extent the partner/supplier/subcontractor applies a human rights management system and to establish the conditions of cooperation in this regard, including support pathways for reducing human rights violation risks in the supply chain/activities/value chain.
Education – Workshops, Training, Guides
I design and conduct tailored made workshops, training sessions, and educational activities adapted to the needs and goals of business organisations, NGOs, trade unions, and public administration. I also develop and review educational materials, including guides for market participants in the field of management, including human rights protection processes.
Dialogue – Consultation, Facilitation, Foresight
I support organizations in building dialogue with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as across sectors,
Foresight Sessions
These are specific dialogue sessions that can be homogeneous, involving participants representing, for example, only a single employer or sectoral employers, as well as homogeneous for trade unions representing a single organisation or industry association. A foresight session can also be mixed – external, conducted with various stakeholders of a given enterprise, or mixed internal, dedicated to both employer representatives and the social side and individuals working for the organization. The goal of such sessions is to improve the dynamics of organisational responsiveness to strategic events, including the dynamics of decision-making that carry the risk of negative ESG impacts, conflicts of interest such as “people vs. profit,” and increasing organizational resilience.
Facilitative Dialogue Sessions
I conduct facilitative sessions to establish and improve dialogue between stakeholders, including trade unions at the company and sectoral levels, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
Consultative Sessions for Mapping Negative Impact, HRIA
I provide consultative support and participate in dialogue sessions aimed at mapping human rights risks and sectoral risks, including within the framework of Human Rights Impact Assessments conducted for organisations operating in Poland as participants in transnational value chains.
Individual Consultative Sessions for C-Level Executives
I provide the advisory sessions dedicated to senior management, during which, according to thematic needs, I provide information on the implementation of ESG strategies, particularly concerning organisational processes including implementation of human rights risks management systems in the context of the implications for their leadership role in the organisation.
Policy advising
I’m team member of transnational and national policy making research and advisory multistakeholder initiatives especially in labour and social policy and sustainable development.
Collaboration Principles
The organisational research supposed to serve the capacity building goals in the area of human rights risks management systems. Therefore:
- I do not accept outsourcing service orders – I do not perform work for/ and instead of the organisation, but support in the capacity building in various organisational processes occurring across the organisational structure, sometimes going into deeper organisational layers;
- Respecting the fact that in the values chains participate diverse organisations, representing entities with divers resource capacity, I use free and available in open-access mode tools.
